Hunters can contribute to early detection by reporting unusual cases of disease in wild animals. Please adhere to the recommended measures, especially after contact with game in the countries affected by FMD, the greatest possible caution is required to prevent the introduction of the disease into Austria.

The responsible official veterinarian must be informed immediately of any such abnormalities! If FMD-like symptoms are detected in hunted animals, immediately clean and disinfect all contaminated objects meticulously and avoid contact with susceptible livestock for at least 5 days!
